Telephone

If you have been keeping your google sheet up to date, you should have the candidates telephone number to hand. Find the candidate on your google sheet and call the number at the agreed time.

  • Introduce yourself, ask them how they are, make small talk to put them at ease. Then explain that it will be a quick call to discuss their experience in a little more depth and to provide them with a little bit more information of the job role itself.

What to ask:

Below is a checklist of what you should be asking the candidate during the interview:

  • Questions relating to their experience (e.g. tell me a bit about your current role, tell me a bit about your care experience, what kind of people have you worked with, do you have experience working with adults/young people with special educational needs/challenging behaviour etc)
  1. Do they have a right to work in the UK?
  2. Do they have a DBS?
  3. Do they have salary expectations and if so, what are they?
  4. What shift patterns can they do?
  5. Are they looking for full time/part time hours (if both are being offered)
  6. Are they double Vaccinated against COVID 19?
  7. You NEED to obtain full work history with dates, years and months of where they have worked, if this is not on their CV, ask them to either provide you with that information there and then, or ask them to send an up-to-date CV to your email address.
  8. When they are available for an interview
